It is inevitable that all societies will contain some inequality. How do we identify the instances where the inequality is based on effort and the ones where it is only made possible by some sort of unfair advantage? In our societies, we all work together and are completely interdependent. A lot of surplus value gets created that only exists because we are all working together. The allocation of this value requires distributive justice. That is not happening. How can we undo these unfair advantages that are built into what we often inaccurately refer to as the Meritocracy?
