For some people the decision to seek health care in our system is literally a choice between bankruptcy and death. As people ration insulin, start go fund me campaigns for survival, and forgo medical care due to fear of costs, the complexity of the system seems beyond anyone to figure out. Many special interests would like to keep it that way.
